Much of what we know of Aztec society relies upon several pictorial codices, some of which were interpreted by Spaniards of the early colonial period. The Codex Mendoza – a pictorial and alphabetic text written in the 16th century gives us a glimpse of what life for the ancient Aztecs may have been like, as well as revealing to us what customs they adhered to in their society. From what we can gather from a codex such as this, those who considered cheating on their spouses, might’ve been too afraid to even risk it.
