During the Salem Witchcraft trials, a woman named Abigail Faulkner was accused of witchcraft. To prove that she was a witch, the court came up with an idea that if a witch had caused someone to suffer an ailment, then that same witch could heal the afflicted by touching them. If the person still suffered after the accused witch had touched them, then there was obviously no witchcraft. But if the person suffering was suddenly healed, then this was considered evidence that witchcraft was at play.

As we’ve seen in many mythologies, the sun and the moon were believed to have been physical representations of actual deities. In other accounts, the gods would ferry the sun and the moon across the sky as a means to explain why and how the sun and the moon appeared in different places in the sky, depending on the time of day. To the ancient Egyptians, this was the sun god Ra, who in his barge would ferry the sun across the sky before being swallowed up by the underworld to commence nightfall. The Greeks had a similar notion with Helios, the sun god, who in his chariot (much like Ra’s barge) would soar across the sky in the same pattern as the sun was believed to. The same was also true of Selene, a deity who the Greeks believed also commandeered a chariot and orchestrated the movement of the moon itself.

The Banshee – An OMEN OF DEATH from Celtic Mythology | Pantheon Mythology
An omen of death, with a wail so high pitched, intense, and mortifying, it makes my singing sound good. The Banshee is known in Irish Folklore as a female spirit who appears and shrieks as a warning of imminent death of a family member. Therefore, if you were to hear it, then I’m sorry mate, it’s too late, say your goodbyes because someone is a goner.
Although the spirit itself isn’t responsible for the cause of death, she was feared due to the impending doom a sighting meant. There’s no escape, no fighting, the end is nigh for a loved one and the banshee would appear as a final warning. Some believed that each family in Ireland, would have its own Banshee, ready to “keen” (meaning cry or weep) when a loved one was approaching their end. #banshee #mythology #irishmythology
